How to Connect Additional Workstations to Stockyard

How to Connect Additional Workstations to Stockyard

Overview

This guide is intended to assist IT staff or users in setting up additional workstations to connect to the Stockyard system using the main server PC.
Having multiple workstations connected to Stockyard can significantly enhance productivity. For example:
  • One PC can be used for creating lots
  • Another for completing NVDs and uploading NVD images
  • A third for tasks like printing reports or generating summaries
Stockyard fully supports multiple users working simultaneously across different PCs on the same local network, with no limitations on functionality.

Step-by-Step Setup Instructions

Step 1: Share the Stockyard Server Folder

On the main server PC:

  1. Navigate to: C:\Belvoir\BelvoirC5_svr
  2. Right-click the folder -> select Properties
  3. Go to the Sharing tab
  4. If the network path is already there, you can skip this step
      1. Click Share and allow access to Everyone (or specify users if required)
    1. Take note of the network path (e.g., \\COMPUTERNAME\BelvoirC5_svr)

Step 2: Access the Server Folder from the Workstation

    On the new workstation:

    1. Open File Explorer
    2. Enter the network path from Step 1 (e.g., \\COMPUTERNAME\BelvoirC5_svr)
    3. Press Enter to access the folder - it may prompt for a username and password (which is the Server's username and password)
    Info
Once you can see the BelvoirC5_svr folders on the new workstation, you can progress to Step 3.

Step 3: Install Stockyard on the Workstation

    1. Inside the shared folder, open the util folder
    2. Run BelInstallWorkstation.exe (Administrator permission required)
    3. The installer will start—follow the prompts:
      • You can change the install location, otherwise, leave it as default setting
      • Make sure to tick Install shortcut for all users (unless only for one user)
      • Leave Start Stockyard when Windows starts unticked unless required
    4. Click Install

Step 4: Initialize Stockyard (Only if you get Workstation not found popups)

    Notes
You may receive warning pop-ups during this process. This is expected — simply click OK to continue. These alerts are part of the system initialization.
    1. Open Stockyard
      1. Launch Stockyard from the desktop shortcut.
    2. Log In
      1. Select your employee name and enter the password to sign in.

    3. Make Changes Operational
      1. Click on System (top left-bar) --> Make Changes Operational
      2. This step configures the workstation to connect and operate with the Stockyard server.
    4. Restart Stockyard
      1. Log out by selecting Log Out on the Main Menu and click Leave System.
      2. Once closed, start Stockyard again. You can now use Stockyard.

    Troubleshooting Tips

Issue 1: OneDrive starts syncing during install
    • Simply close OneDrive and Stockyard will finish the install. You can open it again after Stockyard installer completes.

Issue 2: “An error occurred connecting to the database”
Try the following solutions in order:
🔹 Attempt 1: Check Network Settings
    • Make sure the server PC is on a Private or Domain network (not Public)
    • Then Click Install again or run the installer again
🔹 Attempt 2: Confirm the Two PCs can ping eachother
    1. From the Workstation:

      • Open CMD.
        • Type:
        • ping [Server IP Address or DNS Name] (e.g. ping 192.168.1.50)
        • and press Enter.
      • If the server is not reachable, ensure the workstation is connected to the correct network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet). If still unreachable, contact IT.
      • If the server is reachable, restart the workstation.
    2. From the Server:

      • Open CMD.
        • Type:
        • ping [Workstation IP Address or Name] (e.g. ping 192.168.1.50)
        • and press Enter.
      • Confirm that the workstation responds.
    3. Alert
If either device cannot ping the other, there may be a firewall, DNS, or network configuration issue that needs to be addressed.
