You are able to import carcase feedback from the abattoir directly into Stockbook. The file must be in a CSV format.Importing carcass feedback data from abattoirs
Note: best practice is to create a copy of the CSV file before you open it to avoid potential loss of data.1. Inactivating the animals in Stockbook
- Select the animals
- Select Events > Sale/Death/Disposal
- Enter the kill/sale date and the reason (i.e. sold for slaughter)
- Select Dressed Wt. Sale for animals sold directly to the Abattoir
- Select Live Wt. Sale for animals sold to another party other than an Abattoir
- Completed remaining criteria if required
You are now able to import carcase data on these animals.
2. Setting up weight codes
Before beginning the import process, it will be necessary to set up a feedlot sale (exit) weight code to record the exit weight. This will then allow Stockbook to generate the yield percentage in the carcase report.
- Select Setup
- Select Performance
- Select Weigh/Trait Observation Code
- Select Add
- Enter code as per the image below
2. Importing carcase data
- Select File > Import Options > Details From Data File
- Select the file to import
- The feedlot induction weight will be your sale weight. Select the observation code SW (sale Weight) to record the feedlot induction weight.
- The feedlot exit weight will be the feedlot sale weight. Select the observation code FSW (feedlot sale weight) the record the feedlot exit weight.

- Enter the Default Obs. Date, (in general, the kill date).
- Select the Carcase Tab
- Enter the Abattoir
- Select the following compulsory options:

4. Match the fields for importing
You must link either the ID or EID field ( Life Data>Id or EID ) to assign the Carcase data to the correct animal.The following is a list of fields available for importing carcase data:
Note:MSA grade (can be referred to as MSA marble in the Abattoir feedback) is generally a number >100MSA index is generally a number < 100Marbling can also be referred to as Aus Marble in the abattoir feedback
5. Additional carcase data to be imported
On occasion there may be additional data on the file to be imported to Stockbook.To create the additional carcase data stock book fields:
- Go to any inactive animal in the database
- Select the Carcase tab
- Select Extra
Select Extra Data Definitions
It is her that you can now add any additional carcase data you wish to record in Stockbook
6. Matching the fields for extra Carcase Data
The Stockbook Data Type will be Extra Carcase DataThe Stockbook Field will be any of the new fields that have just been created
7. Carcase report
- Go to Reports
- Carcase
- Complete the relevant criteria
- Select Print Preview to view on screen, or
- Select Export as CSV File to save to your documents.
