Society Horn and Colour Link

Society Horn and Colour Link

At the request of certain cattle societies, we have developed a link between the Horn and Colour fields on the Edit Animal window, and Society Horn and Society Colour in the Society Details tab on the Edit Animal window.  

The purpose of this link is so when you are adding cows or calves for registration purposes, adding the Horn and Colour on the Basic Details tab, in the Edit Animal window, will link directly to the Society Horn and Society Colour in the Society Details tab, and apply the related codes for Society Horn and Society Colour when you export registrations (as shown below).

  1. Open Stockbook
  2. Select the Setup menu
  3. Select User Options

  1. Select the Options tab
  2. Check "Link Horn and Colour to Society"


  1. Click OK 
  2. Go to the Animals screen
  3. Select an animal and click Edit
  4. The Horn and Colour fields will now contain drop downs which will link directly to the animals' society details.

  2. Select the Setup menu
  3. Select User Options

  1. Select the Options tab
  2. Un-check "Link Horn and Colour to Society"

  1. Click OK 
  2. Go to the Animals screen
  3. Select an animal and click Edit
  4. The Horn and Colour fields will not contain drop downs which will link directly to the animals' society details.
    1. The Horn will become an open field to apply your required data.
    2. The Colour field will allow you to add your required colours (Tag, Year, Coat type).
