Printing Labels in Stockyard

Printing Labels in Stockyard

Setup a New Print Queue

  1. Open Main Menu and select Print Queue under the system Menu.
  2. If you have a label queue, select it or click add from the toolbar. Fill in the options as per below.

Understanding the label print queue settings

The following diagram shows what the system will expect the label paper to look like with the above settings. (2 Labels across and 8 Labels down with 0 Margins (the default for the printer)).

If the margins are correct the text will be in the exact same position in every label throughout the page. If you find the text printing inside the label is moving up or down the page, you will need to adjust the margins to resize the labels.

Adjusting the margins

If you adjust the bottom margin to 6 (the measurement is 1/6 of an inch. Therefore, you are adding a 1-inch margin to the bottom of the page) and the right margin to 5 (the measurement is 1/10 of an inch. Therefore, you are adding a ½ inch margin the right hand side of the page.)
NOTE: the printer will already have a small margin by default. The margins you add within stockyard will be added to the default margin. You will need to try printing some labels to work out what the margin needs to be.
The diagram depicts the changes to the margins and the effect it has on the labels. Basically each label is smaller and is now spaced evenly within the margins.

Once you make any changes to the print queue settings you will need to ‘Make changes operational’ also located under ‘System’ in Main Menu. Then restart postman by closing and opening it again.
Your changes won’t take place unless Postman is restarted.

Printing Labels

  1. Open Address Book.
  2. There are 2 ways to restrict Address Book entries for a report.
    1. Multi select the names to print and select print report from the action menu.

Then select the mailing label report
    2. Alternatively - Select the Reports menu then Mailing labels, then use the filters to select the people you want to print labels for.
  3. Click generate report. The report will appear in Postman as a screen report. Don’t worry the labels will display down the page but they will be fitted to the paper when you print them.
  4. Print the labels either by 'Windows Print' or 'Selective Print' to the label queue.
  5. Hold the printed label page over the label paper and make adjustments as necessary to fit all text within every label.
Notice on the image below the margins are very small on the top and left of the page. This is because I left them at 0.

On this image below, I added a half in margin to the top and left.

Start Label Position

Postman will remember the last label position used when printing. You can specify a new starting position by clicking on Postman, then select Queue Setup from the Toolbar. You can change the start label row and column as required on the label print queue. The first label on the page is Row 1 Column 1. The first label on the second line is Row 2 Column 1.
