Merging duplicate animals

Merging duplicate animals

On the odd occasion, an animal may have been added into Stockbook twice. Stockbook allows you to merge these entries.

Animals can be merged as follows:

1. Identify the Duplicated Animals

In this example, the correct Identification number is A008 not A0008.
A008 also has the integral information like pedigree, the correct NLIS ID and Electronic ID.

2. Merge the two animals

  • Select the animal you wish to remove (merge with another)
  • Select Edit
  • Simply change the Primary Id. to match the one you want to merge with. eg. A0008 to A008

  • Select OK
  • Select Yes to the Confirm message 'You have changed the animal Id. Is that what you want to do?'
  • Select Yes to the Confirm message ' Identification "A008 already exists for a current animal. Do you want to transfer all references of "A0008" to "A008"?'
  • Select OK to Information message 'All references of "A0008" have now been transferred to "A008".
Please note: Life data will not automatically transfer across, it must be added manually.

Before deleting the duplicate record the following will need to be recorded if this information does not exist on the correct animal:

  1. All life data shown under basic details
  2. Pedigree
  3. Mob
  4. Group
  5. Class
  6. Movement
  7. DNA

Manually enter the data into the correct animal before deleting the incorrect animal.

  • Click on the Delete button
  • Click Yes to Confirm message to Delete animal A0008?

5. Average daily gain

Stockbook brings all the data across from one record to the next. However,  the last weight and ADG need to be recalculated by going Utilities > Maintenance > Calculate ADGS. the last weight and ADG will now appear on the main animal screen.
