Lots can be calculated in 3 different ways according to how you are collecting the data.
- If you are running the sale, the two most common ways to calculate are by head or by weight but per lot is also possible.
- If you are receiving data from another handler/agent, the best way to mimic their document totals is to calculate using price per lot.
Price Per Head (see Lot 1)
A simple way to enter sale data is to enter lots using the number of head and a flat amount. Weights are not necessary for the calculation.
However if your vendors require the weights, it would be best to include this data or use a different method to calculate.
Price Per Kilo (see Lot 2)
This requires the price and weight and is usually used in a direct sale so that it can be calculated correctly in Stockyard.
It is important to note that Stockyard rounds to 1 decimal places for weights, and 2 decimal places for price.
Price Per Lot (see Lot 3)
However if you are selling through other agents, invoices are generated by their systems and may not calculate to the same decimal point level.
Calculating using the price per lot option will guarantee that your invoices and account sales match theirs.
a) Enter the total price exclusive of GST for the lot into the Price field.
b) Ensure that you have Lot selected in the Per field.
