Management Report

Introduction

The Management Report in Stockyard is designed to provide detailed insights into head counts, dollars per head (low, average, high), price per kilogram (c/kg) (low, average, high), weights (low, average, high) and lot totals from sales. This report allows for flexible grouping options by sale, agent, vendor or purchaser, species, stock type, and sale type, enabling customized data analysis. You can filter the report by a specific date range or sale range to pinpoint the exact data you need. Whether you want a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly overview, the Management Report adapts to your requirements.

Key Features

  • Generate operational statistics for one or multiple sales.
  • List head counts, dollars per head (low, average, high), price per kilogram (c/kg) (low, average, high) and weights (low, average, high)
  • Group data by multiple criteria, such as sale, agent, vendor, species, stock type, or sale type.
  • Filter data by specific date or sale ranges for precise analysis.
  • Present data in a consolidated summary or as subtotals by calendar month.
  • Choose between Lot Analysis or Financial output styles.

Quick Overview of Report Options

  1. Access the Report Tool

    • From the Livestock main menu, navigate to ReportsManagement Report.
  2. Select or Create a Report Template

    • Use the dropdown menu to select an existing report or type a custom name.
    • Example: "Totals by Agent Over 30 Days."
  3. Specify the Date or Sale Range

    • Input the date range or sale range for the report.
  4. Set the Grouping Hierarchy Using Control Levels

    • Assign numbers to Control Levels to determine the grouping order:
      • Leave 0 to not group by that section and run by default settings 
      • Enter 1 for the primary grouping (e.g., by Sale).
      • Enter 2 for the secondary grouping (e.g., by Agent).
      • Continue numbering for additional groupings as needed.

    Example: To group by Agent within each Sale, set "Sale" as 1 and "Agent" as 2.


Configuring Report Options

Below are the available grouping and filtering options:

Grouping Options

  1. Group by Sale

    • Organize the report data by individual sales.
  2. Group by Agent

    • Display lots grouped by the selected agent(s).
  3. Group by Vendor or Purchaser

    • Options: No grouping, All Vendors, All Purchasers, or a specific Vendor/Purchaser.
  4. Group by Species

    • Narrow the report to a specific species (e.g., Cattle, Sheep, Goats) or include all species.
  5. Group by Stock Type

    • Combine all stock types into one group or display them individually.
  6. Group by Sale Type

    • Either consolidate all sale types or show them separately.

Layouts

  1. Print Control

    • Consolidated Summary: Combines all data into one summary.
    • Sub-Total by Calendar Month: Groups data into monthly subtotals.
  2. Print Style

    • Lot Analysis: Focuses on individual lots and sales data.
    • Financial: Highlights financial summaries.
  3. Output Options

    • Once all options are set, you can choose how to generate the report (e.g., Print, Export).


Managing Report Templates (Save, Update, or Run Without Saving)

When configuring a Management Report in Stockyard, you have the flexibility to save your report settings for future use or proceed without saving.
The "Save Report Definition" dialog box provides the following options:


  1. Update Original Report

    • Use this option to save any changes made to an existing report template.
    • Ideal when you're fine-tuning an existing report layout and want to overwrite the previous settings.
  2. Add a New Report

    • Choose this option when you've created a new report template or want to preserve the changes as a separate, new template.
    • Perfect for scenarios where you want to keep the original report unchanged while saving the new configuration for future use.
  3. Do Not Save, Only Print

    • Select this if you want to run the report without saving any changes.
    • Best for one-time reports where saving is unnecessary, and you only need to view or print the results.

How to Use This Feature

  • When Creating a New Template: After entering a new report name and configuring settings, click Add a New Report to save it.
  • When Editing an Existing Template: Make the necessary changes and click Update Original Report to overwrite the existing report.
  • When Running Without Saving: If no template changes are needed, select Do Not Save, Only Print to quickly generate the report.
