How to change the format of EID’s and SG’s ID in excel

Changing the Format of EID's and SG's in Excel

Excel may show long numbers such as Electronic Identifications and Sheep Genetics' Identifications in the wrong format.
This can be modified in excel so that they are in the appropriate format.  
e.g. Excel may show the ID number in the format of "9.82+14" and this can be resolved by following these steps:

Step 1. Prevent Loss of Original Data

To prevent the loss of data, always make a copy of this type of file before opening in Excel.

Step 2. Select Column to Format

Click on the letter at the top of the column to format the whole column

Step 3. Format the Cells

To change this right click on the column and go down to Format Cells.


Step 4. Change the Column Category

Under the Number tab change the category of the column to Number with no decimal places and Click OK.


Step 5. Column Reformatted

The numbers will then be displayed in the format shown below and can be imported into Stockbook
