Delete an incorrect pedigree-only sire
A sire can be added via the Add/Edit Animal screen (of any animal), in the Birth Details section, by clicking on the + button beside the entry point for Sire.
Any animal added this way is for pedigree purposes only , and will be Inactive .
Such animals will NOT appear as live animals in your herd.
If you have added a sire incorrectly and you wish to delete it from your list of pedigree sires, use the following steps:
Step 2. Enter the Identification of the sire to be deleted.
In the Search For Animal box at the top left of the Animals screen, type in the Identification of the Sire you wish to delete.
Similarly, click on the Filter button (top right hand side of Animals screen) and under Sex , tick Males and tick the Must be Pedigree Only check box.
Then click OK button. (This is another option if you can't remember the Identification you entered for the erroneous sire.)
Step 3. Highlight the animal to be Deleted
- Click on the animal (sire) to highlight. (A dark green background means that you have selected the animal).
- You can not delete a sire if it is allocated as a sire for another animal.
- To check: Click on the blue Progeny tab at the bottom-left of the screen.
The Progeny Listing is a list of the animal's (sire's) progeny history.
If the sire does not have any progeny, go to Step 5.
If the sire does have progeny, make a note of the each primary Id. (eg. ear tag), go to Step 4.
Step 4. Search for each progeny identified above, eg. L363.
Click on it to highlight. (A dark green background means that you have selected the animal).
Click on the Edit button.
In the Birth Details section, under Sire, allocate the progeny to the correct sire. (Either, click on the dropdown list to select a sire or click on the + button to add a new sire).
Click OK button to save.
Step 5. In the Search for animal box
In the Search For Animal box at the top left of the Animals screen type in the Identification of the Sire you wish to delete.
Click on the animal (sire) to highlight. (A dark green background means that you have selected the animal).
Click on the Delete button at the bottom of the screen.
