Assigning a new EID to Existing Animal
Before you can assign a new EID to an existing animal, you will need to have your unallocated tags saved in Stockbook.

Changing the animal's EID will also change the NLIS ID. It will use the NLIS ID associated with the new EID.

It is assumed that in your Live Entry Session Defaults (Setup | Session Defaults) you have "On new EID" set to "Ask me what to do".
Step 1. Scan new tag
In Live Entry, scan the tag you will put in the animal to replace the old one.
Step 2. Assign the tag
The following message will appear. Click Assign to Existing Animal

Step 3. Find the Correct Animal
You need to find the animal you want to assign the tag to.
Start typing in the animal's ID into box 1 and then select the actual ID from box 2
Once you have selected the correct animal in box 2, press the Assign Tag button

You can force the EID to be automatically assigned to an existing animal by changing the setting in the session defaults.
Doing so will eliminate step 2.
- Click on Setup > Session Defaults menu option
- Select Link EID to existing animal from the On new EID drop down list
Step 4. Confirm the assignation
The following message will then appear
Click on the Yes button to confirm the EID change
