Adding an EBV type

Adding an EBV type and import relevant data

To add an index:

  • Click on the Setup > Performance > Trait Analysis System menu option
 
  • Scroll through the list of EBV's until you come to BObject
  • Select one that does not have a tick in the 'Use' column
  • Tick the box in the Use column
  • Double click in the Code column and type in the your new trait code
  • Double click in the Description column and type in the full name of your new trait
  • Click on the Close button
You will still only be able to select 19 EBV's from the list.


  1. You will now be able to import data for this EBV/ASBV

To import relevant data:

  1. Click on the File > Import Options > Details From Data File menu option
 

Step 1. Select the file to import

  1. Click on the folder icon and browse for your file.

Step 2. Select the type/format/layout of this file

  1. This is a . (This is the default choice)

Step 3. Set your import options

  1. Here you need to add information that will be relevant for every field imported

Step 4. Match the fields

  1. In the case of the new trait example: under the Data Type column, from the drop down menu select 'EBV' and under the Stockbook Field column, from the drop down menu select 'TEST'.
  • Click OK button to begin importing the file
 
  • Click Yes to Confirm message: 'Proceed with importing the file "Test Trait Report.csv"?'
  • Click Yes to Confirm message: 'you are about to import & Across flock EBVs. This will update existing records of that type. Proceed?'
  • Click OK to Information message: 'Import Complete (36 animals processed in ... sec.)'
